Heavy Snowfall ended Wallingfords friendly match with Woodcote after around 40 minutes with Wallingford Leading 2-0 at the John Madejski Academy in Reading.
Picture: (Matt Rolfe made his debut with a solid performance) Matt Rolfe and Michael Fehsenfeld both made their first team debuts and Jordan Brown, Ross Baker, Ashley Godwin and Tristan Lewis all made their return after injuries in Wallingfords first match in over a month The game kicked off on the 3g pitch (as it does not freeze) despite heavy snow just before kick off. Around 2 inches fell just prior to kick off but the game kicked off the first of three 20 minute periods in the blizzrd conditions! Despite the lying snow Wallingford controlled the ball and caused Woodcote many problems. Jordan Brown and Tom Collins both had chances before Chadbone finished well to put Wallingford 1-0 up after just 10 minutes. The lively Toby Knowell saw 2 shots well saved by Craven in the Wallingford goal but Wallingford scored again to make it 2-0. Butcher released Baker on the right whose low driven cross decieved the Woodcote keeper who palmed the ball into his own net. The second period kicked off with Woodcote pressing to get back into the game but the snowy conditions were now causing havoc with the flow of the game. Chadbone, Collins and Fehsenfeld all managed chances on the break but failed to convert and when woodcote did get into Wallingfords defensive 3rd they lacked a little quality to create any real chances. The ref ended the game when Woodcote took a quick goal kick but the ball did not roll as it should and it was the correct decision. Thanks again to the Woodcote players who made the trip in the horrible conditions but both sides will look to line-up this fixture again as the weather looks to cause problmes for league and cup fixtures for the rest of the month.
