Stanford Spooked at Hithercroft as Wallingford riot 11-2 PDF Print E-mail

Despite missing the creativity of Jordan Brown and Tristan Campbell through injury and Gareth Sanashee (Flu) Wallingford continued their exceptional home form.

Tom Collins and Ben Chadbone (Pictured) both grabbed a Hat-Trick whilst Tarome Hemmings bagged a brace and Grant, Lewis and Amos got a goal a piece.

Wallingford stormed into a 7-0 Half-Time lead.

Ross Baker whipped in a cross that Collins chested in from 1 yard and minutes later Hemmings punished Stanfords defence as they missed a clearance and he lifted the ball over the stranded keeper. Hemmings got his second when Gladwin found another fantastic crossfield pass which Hemmings controlled well and fired over the keeper into the roof of the net. Hemmings then became provider when Chadbone headed in from close range after good work from Hemmings on the right. Hemmings then released Chadbone in a central area and as the keeper advanced Chadbone chipped into an empty net. Collins then grabbed his 2nd and 3rd when a Lewis delivery was headed down by amos for Collins to score from 5 yards and then when the keeper could not handle another Lewis delivery Clolins pounced again.

7-0 up at half time and cruising Wallingford came out sloppy in the second half. With Grant on for Collins at half time Wallingford looked to continue to keep the ball but a few lazy errors and poor decisions allowed Stanford to grab 2 goals before the hour mark. Wallingford responded with 4 more in the last 30 minutes. Another Baker cross was finished well by Chadbone for his Hat-Trick and minutes later as Chadbone raced through he was brought down and Lewis slotted home the penalty. Another good Lewis delivery was headed in by grant to make it 10-2. Butcher then had a goal disallowed when poking home from close range but Chadbone became provider again as he flicked the ball on to Amos to poke home for the 11th.

Credit goes to Stanford-in-the-Vale, despite a silly red card, as they continued to work hard and play the game in good spirit although they came up against a Wallingford side that were just too strong.

Wallingford have now scored 29 goals in their last 5 Home games and will look to continue that form in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup next weekend when they play AFC Aldermaston at The Hithercroft.
