AFC Wallingford lost 1-0 to Forest Green Rovers last night in a game that could have gone either way
Wallingford conceded a sloppy goal after 70 seconds of the game. Walliingford kicked off and imediately gave Forest Green the ball who managed to force a corner. After initial efforts were blocked and saved Forest Greens Number 10 proded in at the back post. Wally took 10 or 15 minutes to get themselves going but defended well and limited Rovers chances. Wally then started to control the game a little more as they managed settle down and keep the football a little better. The second half continued the same with Wallingford setting the pace and tempo with their passing and creating some good chances but failing to convert. Rovers had another good spell around the 70 minutes mark and could have doubled their lead but for good goalkeeping and a goal line clearance. Wally then battled hard and forced the game into Forest Greens half but when Brown fired just wide when well placed and Lee-Brown miss-cued when through on goal it just didnt appear to be Wallingfords night.
A good performance but dissappionting result against a strong Forest Green side but one that we feel we could have beaten.
Good luck goes to Forest Green Rovers in the rest of the competition.
