AFC Wallingford are pleased to be able to announce their new management team for the 09/10 North Berks campaign.Tristan Lewis, 27 and currently undertaking his A licence, will oversee the coaching and management of the first team as well as playing. Having previously played at Uxbridge, Burnham, Bracknell and Flackwell Heath, he will bring experience to what will be a young new look side at Wallingford next season. Tristan will be assisted by Michael Butcher, 22 and also a UEFA B licensed coach, who will also play having previously turned out for Oxford City, Kidlington and Henley Town. Craig Drummond competes the coaching team as coach. With the new management team comes a link to the JMA Reading under 19 team who train and study full time at the John Madejski Academy. This link provides the JMA players their first step into mens football, to aid their development as young footballers and to hopefully push them on to a higher level.
Lewis said "We have over 40 boys at the JMA next year who will all be competing for places in our 1st and 2nd eleven. 20 of the boys have spent a year with us already training everyday and playing in the Youth Conference Football League against some good sides like Exeter City, Havant & waterlooville and Weymouth. This now gives us a chance to push some of the stronger players into mens football here at Wallingford which should hopefully help put AFC Wallingford and the fantastic facilities here back at the level the club should be competing at."
