The youth team pulled out a fine 2-0 victory on Sunday against Botley in the OFA Invitation League Cup. 

The lads faced their first decent test so far against league opposition as they travelled to Botley, from the division above, in the league cup.

In awful conditions, the home side obviously expected to have little trouble in this game. They were shocked by the quick start made by Wallingford and were soon one down after Gary Mandizha's excellent strike.

Botley made full use of the slope and wind (plus driving rain) in their favour for the rest of the half. Wallingford hung on at times with a couple of good saves from George Faulknmer. The ball was cleared off the line twice in quick succession just before half time.

The first part of the second half was much more even. As time drew on Botley became more desperate and started throwing people forward. Faulkner made another fine save, traversing the width of the goal to make a block at the far post. Wallingford also had chances on the break, with Courtney Scott, Tom Smith and Mandizha all racing through but failing to convert.

Finally, with two minutes left, Smith crossed from the right and Sean Ayres scored from close in to make the game safe.
