A strong Oxford City side won the Robin Antonowicz memorial trophy for the 4th time on Thursday night as the 2 sides met to celebrate the life of the young defender who played for both clubs.
AFC were forced into several changes and were missing Barry Primmer, Anthony Hill and Paul Powell at the kick off with several AFC youth players making their senior football debuts. City started the stronger and took the lead through a Sackey goal before ex-Wallingford boy Aaron Davies doubled the lead before half time with a 20 yard special. The young Wallingford side were acquitting themselves well though and went close themselves through Leach and Hill.
The 2nd half was a touch more one sided as city began to take hold of the game against their North Berks opponents, Gregg adding a retaken penalty before Len Sackey got his 2nd and City’s fourth to complete a comprehensive victory for the southern league visitors. Mark Bonners men can, however take heart from a spirited performance as they look to continue their solid build up to their season which begins with the visit of Drayton on August 30th.
