Wallingford were denied a point by a last minute free kick in a scrappy affair at The Bourne.
The visitors were without several key players but held their own in the first half despite Ben Speiro heading against the bar after twenty minutes. Just before the break Pete Moulder broke the deadlock with a low left foot shot from the edge of the area. Just when Hook thought they would be heading into the break with a lead, however, Sean Weston broke into the box for Wallingford and finished well with a sweetly struck right foot shot with the last kick of the half.
Weston almost gave the visitors the lead shortly after half time when Jay Harriott found him in space with a low pass, but the Hook keeper off his line to deflect the ball wide. The rest of the second half was pretty much one-way traffic as Wallingford were pinned into their own half by the gale force wind, which Hook used to their advantage. Craig Evans made a couple of excellent saves as Wallingford looked to have ground out a draw, but in the 89th minute the home side won a free kick on the edge of the area and Ben Elkington curled in a shot which went through the wall and into the corner past the unsighted Evans.
