For the second consecutive game an improving Wallingford side opened the scoring but could not hold onto their lead.
With three minutes gone, Jefferson Harriott's cross was deflected into Tommy Hayday's path and the young midfielder jinked around the keeper and blasted the ball into the empty net. The home side look comfortable, but Shrivenham were always an aerial threat, and after Dennis King had rattled the crossbar for the visitors, Brad Chalmers headed into his own net when under pressure from an inswinging corner. Just before half time Scott Lane then gave Shrivenham the lead with a sweetly struck 25 yards shot that beat Craig Evans at his near post.
Shrivenham began to take control in the second period and King made it 3-1 from a tight angle after marginally beating the Wallingford offside trap. Evans then made an excellent save to deny Lane a second goal and Wallingford never stopped battling, with Weaver and Davies testing the keeper from distance. However, the visitors held out strongly to condemn Wallingford to their ninth successive defeat. AFC do have a good chance to get back to winning ways, however, when they visit bottom club Harrow Hill next Saturday
